MPFA holds scheme member event to share experts’ insights in financial planning for a quality retirement life

The MPFA is holding a two-day thematic event today and tomorrow (29-30 October) in a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui to help MPF scheme members make better long-term financial plans. The event includes a series of sharing sessions and workshops on topics ranging from retirement planning, investment tips, and financial planning strategies for “slashers”, to family budgeting, a minimalistic lifestyle and well-being management, etc., providing scheme members with a wide range of financial planning insights for achieving a worry-free retirement life.

 

The thematic event was officiated by MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau, Insurance Authority Chief Executive Officer Mr Clement Cheung, Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr Raymond Li and MPFA Acting Managing Director Mr Cheng Yan-chee. In her opening remarks, Mrs Lau said, “The MPF System covers all employees and self-employed persons of different ages, occupation and educational background. This two-day event, including sharing sessions on different topics, aims to cater for the different needs of MPF schemes members and raise their awareness of the importance of retirement planning in a holistic way.” She encouraged scheme members to plan their retirement investment well in advance in order to achieve an ideal retirement life.

 

The two-day event, in both physical and online formats, consists of more than 10 concurrent sharing sessions and workshops, featuring an array of guest speakers including certified financial planner Mr Alvin Lam’s sharing on retirement planning, and personal and family budgeting,  YouTuber Miss Hana Tam’s sharing on her working life and financial goals as a slasher. Meanwhile, Mr Kenny Mak, Chartered Financial Analyst and university visiting lecturer, provides professional advice for slashers on financial and retirement planning; fund manager and financial analyst Mr Alex Wong shares investment market trend and tips on long-term MPF investment; and home-decluttering specialist Sharon Lam shares on applying home organising skills in financial and MPF management.

 

Onsite participants are provided one-on-one consultation sessions with certified financial planner offering independent MPF analysis and retirement planning advice on a complimentary basis.

 

Speaking at the event, MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau encouraged the public to manage their MPF schemes proactively and make advanced retirement planning.
