MPFA enhances district services following the implementation of 5-day week
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) has set up its first branch office in Tsuen Wan to enhance its services at the district level. The Tsuen Wan Office not only serves as a focal point to disseminate MPF messages to employers and employees, but also collaborates with district organizations, political parties and labour unions to strengthen education and publicity programmes at the district level. Meanwhile, the MPFA will enhance its services to the public following the implementation of five-day week from September.
The Chairman of the MPFA, Mr Charles Lee Yeh-kwong, officiated at the opening ceremony of the Tsuen Wan Office held today (Wednesday, 16 August 2006).
In his opening speech, Mr Lee said that setting up the Tsuen Wan Office could help MPFA reach out and network with the community, thus enabling a better understanding of the needs of the public. The Office would also provide various services in relation to MPF to the local community.
Lee added that the MPFA would consider extending the services to other districts after reviewing the effectiveness of the Tsuen Wan Office.
The Tsuen Wan Office of the MPFA is situated at G/F, 337-339 Sha Tsui Road Tsuen Wan. Its services include:
- Handling public enquiries and complaints on MPF;
- Providing basic information on individual preserved accounts, and distributing leaflets on MPF System and investment;
- Holding seminars, talks and other activities on MPF; and
- Organizing educational exhibitions.
Meanwhile, the MPFA announces that with the implementation of five-day week from September 2006, it will enhance its services to the public by extending the business hours of its head office by half an hour on Monday to Friday, i.e. opening from 8:45 am to 5:45 pm instead of the current hours of 8:45 am to 5:15 pm. On Saturday the MPFA hotline at 2918 0102 will remain in service from 8:45 am to 12:00 noon. Furthermore, the Tsuen Wan Office opens from 10 am to 7 pm on Monday to Friday, and from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday. The public enquiry number of the Tsuen Wan Office is 2920 1111.
The implementation of five-day week will not affect the quality and efficiency of services of the Authority and will not involve additional manpower. In fact, with the extension of the business hours of the MPFA head office by half an hour on Monday to Friday, and the opening of the Tsuen Wan Office, the overall service hours of the MPFA will be enhanced.
