MPFA welcomes new appointments to its Advisory Committee

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) welcomed the appointment of Mr David Sun Tak-kei as Chairman of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Advisory Committee (MPFSAC) and seven other new members to the Committee. The appointments were published in the Gazette today (15 April).

The new members are Mr William Chan Che-kwong, Ms Bethy Ho Kum-man, Hon Ip Wai-ming, Mrs Agnes Koon Woo Kam-oi, Mr Larry Kwok Lam-kwong, Hon Fred Li Wah-ming and Mr Paul Pong Po-lam.

MPFA Chairman Anna Wu Hung-yuk said, "Mr Sun was a member of the MPFA Management Board for six years. With his wealth of experience and knowledge in the operation of the MPF System, I am confident that the MPFSAC, under Mr Sun's leadership, will continue to contribute to the enhancement of the System by making valuable recommendations."

The Government also re-appointed Mr Stanley Lau Chin-ho and Ms Ng Wai-yee as members and MPFA Managing Director Mrs Diana Chan Tong Chee-ching as Deputy Chairman of MPFSAC.

All appointments and re-appointments are for a term of two years with effect from 30 March 2011.

Ms Wu also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to outgoing MPFSAC Chairman Mr Lee Kai-ming for his devoted service and insightful advice over the past four years (March 2007 to March 2011). Mr Lee was a founding Member of the Management Board, on which he sat for eight and a half years (September 1998 to March 2007), and was Chairman of the Industry Schemes Committee for six years (August 2000 to August 2006).

"Ever since the System was launched, Mr Lee has, in his various capacities, contributed significantly to the development and betterment of the System", she said. "Under his leadership, the MPFSAC also provided valuable advice on different aspects of the System."

Ms Wu also expressed her deep appreciation to other outgoing members Hon Chan Kin-por, Mr Bob Chong Hot-hoi, Hon Albert Ho Chun-yan, Mr Lam Yim-nam, Mr Leung Fu-wah, Mr Alvin Wong Tak-wai and Hon V-Nee Yeh for their staunch support and precious advice over the years.
