MPFA now accepts e-Cheque payments
To further enhance operational efficiency and to promote the use of paperless transactions, the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) announced today (8 September) the launch of its e-Cheque Collection Portal, which allows members of the public to make payments to the MPFA by e-Cheque anytime, anywhere.
An MPFA spokesperson said, “The MPFA has been encouraging the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) industry and scheme members to handle their MPF contributions and other related matters via electronic platforms. The new e-Cheque Collection Portal both enhances the MPFA’s operational efficiency and provides payers with one more payment method.”
The MPFA receives about 18,000 payments a year, most of which are made by paper cheques. Under the new arrangement, all members of the public and organizations can make payments to the MPFA by e-Cheque. These payments include outstanding MPF contributions paid by employers to the MPFA for their employees; periodic fees, application fees and other payments charged to Occupational Retirement Schemes Ordinance scheme employers; and certain fees charged to MPF trustees.
Members of the public or organizations that would like to make e-Cheque payments to the MPFA can access the e-Cheque Collection Portal to input and confirm payment details, and upload their e-Cheques. A user guide is now available on the portal to navigate users through the procedure.
