MPFA urges MPF industry to arrange for their staff and intermediaries to get vaccinated
The MPFA today (2 June) issued a circular to the MPF industry, strongly encouraging MPF trustees and MPF principal intermediaries1 to arrange for their staff to receive COVID-19 vaccination.
An MPFA spokesperson said that the MPF industry has been keeping effective risk management strategies to ensure the smooth operation of MPF System during the pandemic. The COVID-19 Vaccination Programme launched by the Government aims to safeguard public health and enable the resumption of normal activities of society gradually. It is critical for the MPF industry to help build an immune barrier in Hong Kong.
The MPF industry practitioners bear the primary responsibility to maintain the smooth operation of MPF schemes and subsidiary intermediaries2 are also usually in client-facing roles. The MPFA strongly encourages the MPF trustees and MPF principal intermediaries to introduce supportive measures to encourage their staff and subsidiary intermediaries to receive COVID-19 vaccination, such as implementing flexible working hours to accommodate vaccination appointments and providing extra days of leave to staff who have taken the vaccine, in order to fulfil their corporate social responsibility. Staff who have not yet been vaccinated or are unfit for vaccination due to medical conditions are strongly encouraged to undergo periodic COVID-19 testing.
The spokesperson reiterated that as more people receive vaccination, this will help to safeguard public health and resume Hong Kong’s economy and normal life in a gradual and orderly manner.
