MPFA urges the MPF industry to implement “vaccine pass” arrangement and pushes forward COVID-19 vaccination

The MPFA today (18 February) issued a circular to the MPF industry, strongly advising MPF trustees and principal intermediaries1 to follow the Government’s measure and implement the “vaccine pass” arrangement. Except for those who are unfit to receive vaccination due to pregnancy or medical conditions, staff of trustees and subsidiary intermediaries2 (SIs) who have not received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine should not be allowed to enter the office premises.

To ensure the business continuity of essential services, MPF trustees and principal intermediaries should also strongly advise their staff/ SIs who are yet to receive vaccination or eligible to receive the third booster dose to get vaccinated or get the booster dose as soon as possible. Various measures in facilitating eligible staff and SIs to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, such as providing flexible working hours to attend vaccination appointments and providing vaccination leave, should continue to be implemented.

An MPFA spokesperson said that with the current severe COVID-19 epidemic situation and the highly transmissible Omicron variant, it is essential for the MPF industry to step up precautionary measures to minimize the risk of contracting and spreading the virus in the workplace as well as in the community and make every concerted effort with all sectors of the community to suppress the fifth wave of the epidemic.
