MPFA blog - Unfailing support from the industry for better development of the MPF System

In her latest blog post, published today (18 April), MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau said that MPF trustees have been actively cooperating with the MPFA in implementing various measures and have often offered their views to the MPFA on various MPF issues through exchanges in the past 21 years since the inception of the MPF System. They also pledged to uphold the core value of putting MPF scheme members’ interests first to enhance their retirement protection and the operational efficiency of the MPF System.

Mrs Lau mentioned that the MPFA and the MPF industry are working together at full steam to develop the eMPF Platform project. Since the early stage of preparation, MPF trustees have been fully devoted to the development of the Platform and have provided comprehensive support by committing enormous resources and manpower. Mrs Lau said she was delighted to see that the MPF industry has embraced a positive attitude towards the new thinking and new operating model triggered by the Platform, as they understand that the Platform will enable the continual and healthy development of the MPF System.

Recently, the eMPF Platform Company, the project contractor and all the trustees held in-depth discussions on the arrangements for migrating MPF account information from the existing system of trustees to the eMPF Platform upon its completion early next year. To ensure a smooth transition in the first stage, the MPFA has accepted applications from five trustees to become early adopters to get on board the Platform starting from the second quarter of next year. Mrs Lau said the related workload must not be underestimated, but she is confident that the trustees will ensure a secure and smooth transition to the Platform.

Moreover, the trustees have been assisting in the relief measures implemented by the Government in response to the pandemic. To tie in with the Government’s anti-epidemic efforts, the industry has rendered its support and is aligned with the Government’s work to fight the pandemic. They have demonstrated their commitment to riding out the difficult times with Hong Kong, by enabling the resumption of normal life with economic recovery as soon as possible.
