MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau today (10 June) welcomed the Chief Executive’s appointment of Mr Cheng Yan-chee as the Managing Director of the MPFA for a term of 3 years with effect from 10 June 2022.

Mrs Lau said, “Mr Cheng joined the MPFA in April 2013 as the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Executive Director, and was appointed Acting Managing Director in June 2021. With his extensive experience in public administration, deep understanding of the MPFA, MPF System and the industry, unwavering commitment to serve the public and continued drive for excellence, Mr Cheng is the person best suited for the post of Managing Director.”

Mrs Lau continued, “The MPFA is working at full steam to develop the eMPF Platform to advance digital transformation amongst MPF scheme members, employers and other stakeholders. This is the greatest reform of the MPF System to date in terms of scope and significance. The MPFA’s Management Board is confident that under the leadership of Mr Cheng, the MPFA will be able to overcome different challenges in taking forward the eMPF Platform project and continue to develop and reform the MPF System.”

In response to his appointment, Mr Cheng said, “I am honoured to be appointed as the Managing Director of, and be given the opportunity to continue to serve, the MPFA. Under the steer of the Chairman and Members of the Management Board, I look forward to leading the MPFA to further the development of the MPF System for the betterment of retirement protection in Hong Kong.”
