Beware of suspicious calls impersonating MPFA or eMPF Platform Company staff
The MPFA noted recently that there are suspicious calls from unknown callers claiming to be MPFA or eMPF Platform Company staff requesting members of the public for face-to-face meetings to discuss MPF matters and solicit personal information.
The MPFA is highly concerned about this situation and would like to stress that the MPFA and the eMPF Platform Company will not contact individual members of the public to introduce MPF products or explain MPF documents, or request members of the public to provide personal information or details of their MPF accounts over the phone. The MPFA and the eMPF Company also will not commission any person or organization to do so.
Members of the public are reminded not to disclose any personal information to unknown callers. If they receive suspicious calls or other forms of communication from persons claiming to be representative of the MPFA or the eMPF Platform Company, they should immediately call the MPFA hotline (2918 0102) to verify the identity of the caller or the authenticity of the message. They should also approach the Police immediately for assistance if they suspect that they have fallen prey to fraud.
The MPFA frequently provides updates on anti-deception information related to MPF through its website, reminding members of the public to beware of deception. A new section is recently added under Enforcement Alerts on the MPFA’s website regarding information about suspicious calls from the MPFA or the eMPF Platform Company.
