MPF records positive investment returns in 2023
The MPFA announced today (4 January) that MPF recorded positive investment returns in 2023. The overall return for MPF is 3.5%*. All six MPF fund types - equity funds, mixed assets funds, bond funds, guaranteed funds, MPF conservative funds and money market funds (other than MPF conservative funds) - have posted positive returns. The core accumulation funds under default investment strategy (DIS) (commonly called “funds for lazy people”) even recorded an average return of 14.3%. Total MPF assets amounted to around $1.14 trillion* as at end 2023.
The MPFA spokesperson said that under the MPF System, funds investing in different markets and asset classes are provided to help scheme members build a diversified investment portfolio to mitigate investment risk. Members are advised to review their MPF portfolio regularly and take into consideration factors such as their life stage, financial situation, risk tolerance level etc., when making the assessment.
