The MPFA welcomes and supports the Government’s commencement of public consultation on the Basic Law Article 23 legislation, enabling various sectors of the community to engage in rational and pragmatic discussions on the subject with an aim to enhance the legal framework for safeguarding national security and ensuring the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong. 

The MPFA spokesperson said that a sound legal framework and regulatory system are crucial cornerstones for the continuous development of the MPF System. The Basic Law Article 23 legislation will contribute to a more stable social and economic environment in Hong Kong and further safeguard the rule of law, conducive to the long-term development of the MPF System and the financial markets in Hong Kong.

The MPFA encourages the MPF industry to actively participate in the public consultation on the Basic Law Article 23 legislation.
