MPFA blog - eMPF Platform officially commences operation

MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau published her blog post today (26 June), announcing that the eMPF Platform (the eMPF) has officially commenced operation. All the account information under the MPF scheme of the first MPF trustee joining the eMPF, YF Life Trustee, has been successfully uploaded to the eMPF after a week of preparation work and data migration process. YF Life Trustee’s scheme members and employers can now manage MPF administration via the eMPF from today, marking the start of the MPF digital era.

Mrs Lau said that the eMPF is a brand-new digital platform. Each MPF scheme managed by MPF trustees will follow the timetable to get onboard the eMPF, gradually replacing the existing MPF administration systems under different trustees, allowing scheme members and employers to utilize the advantages of the eMPF, including digitalization, automation and one-stop design, providing a brand-new experience in MPF management and driving significant fee reduction.

To help scheme members and employers make a smooth transition to the eMPF, the eMPF Platform Company has provided the following comprehensive support services since mid-June:

1. Outreach service to employers by dedicated staff to help them register and activate the eMPF and to introduce the functions of the eMPF;
2. An eMPF customer service hotline (183 2622) and email (enquiry@support.empf.org.hk) for enquiries and assistance;
3. eMPF service centres located on Hong Kong Island, and in Kowloon and the New Territories; and
4. eMPF self-service kiosks in stores of the eMPF contractor’s group.

The eMPF Platform Company has started receiving appointments made by employers for the outreach service and also organized free-of-charge training courses to help familiarize employers’ human resources (HR) personnel with the operation of the eMPF for a smooth transition. Training courses will also be arranged for MPF intermediates to help them better understand the operation of the eMPF.

Mrs Lau highlighted that, on average, it takes only 5 minutes for scheme members to complete the registration and about 10 minutes for employers, since they have to fill in more information than scheme members. The outreach service also revealed that most employers are satisfied with the eMPF user experience.

China Life Trustee will be the second MPF trustee to get onboard the eMPF. Its MPF scheme members and employers can register for the eMPF from 12 July and manage the MPF administration tasks via the eMPF from 29 July. China Life Trustee already issued the communication packs to inform its scheme members and employers about the registration date and arrangements. Bank of Communications Trustee will be the third trustee to get onboard the eMPF and it will issue the communication pack to its scheme members and employers on 28 June.

Mrs Lau encouraged YF Life Trustee’s employers to register for the eMPF as soon as possible and submit their MPF contribution data for June, and use the eMPF to make contributions with the electronic options provided on the Platform by the next contribution day (10 July), thus enjoying a variety of functions of the eMPF. If any employers of YF Life Trustee continue to pay their MPF contributions by cheque in the interim, the payee of the cheque will remain unchanged, but the cheque should be sent to the eMPF Platform Company by post (PO Box 98929 Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office) or placed in the drop-in box at any of its three service centres. Employers should not submit the cheque to their trustee’s branch or service centre. For employers of other MPF schemes which have not yet joined the eMPF, the contribution arrangement remains unchanged.
