MPFA Alumni spring reunion

The MPFA today (14 February) hosted a spring reunion for “MPFA Alumni ”1. MPFA and eMPF Platform Company (eMPF Company) Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau, along with the current senior management, enjoyed a reunion with current and former directors of the MPFA and the eMPF Company, as well as current and former members of committees. As they celebrated Chinese New Year, they reviewed the milestones of the MPF System over the past nearly 25 years since its inception and envisioned its future development.

[Picture 2] MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau expressed gratitude to all former Chairmen, directors and committee members for their contributions to the development of the MPF System, which have laid the foundation for it to become an important retirement protection system for the working population. She also highlighted that 2025 is a critical year for the MPF System, marking its 25th anniversary of operation on 1 December and the implementation of several important reforms. These include all MPF trustees onboarding to the eMPF Platform by the end of the year, the abolition of MPF offsetting arrangement on 1 May, and working out the implementation details and conducting public consultation for the “full portability” of MPF benefits.

 [Picture 4] At the spring reunion, MPFA Managing Director Mr Cheng Yan-chee outlined the achievements of the MPFA since the inception of the MPF System, including ongoing efforts to drive MPF fee reduction, continued rise of the proportion of voluntary contributions in the overall contributions, popularity of tax-deductible voluntary contributions, and impressive performance of the default investment strategy since its launch.
