Establishment of Expert Group for eMPF Platform

The MPFA and the eMPF Platform Company (the eMPF Company) established an Expert Group (the Group) for the eMPF Platform. With the second phase eMPF Platform (the eMPF) onboarding to commence in early March, the establishment of the Group serves to offer relevant professional opinions to help the project team address any upcoming challenges, thus providing better services and experience to users.

The eMPF commenced operation in June last year. The first five trustees, known as early adopters, with relatively smaller size of assets under management, successfully joined the eMPF. The rest of the trustees will get onboard the eMPF one by one starting in early March this year.

The eMPF is the largest and the most challenging project in the nearly 25-year history of the MPF System, which involves employers, MPF scheme members and industry practitioners in Hong Kong. During the initial operation of the eMPF, users need time to become familiar with the Platform. Employers and scheme members also faced the adaptation challenges during the transition from their trustees’ system to the eMPF. Therefore, the MPFA and eMPF Company have spared no effort to further enhance the user experience and the service level of the Platform.

The MPFA and the eMPF Company invited professionals from relevant fields, including IT experts, management of large technology or digital platform companies, representative of IT trade association, and university scholar, to form the eMPF Platform Expert Group (see Appendix for the list of members).

The inaugural meeting of the Group was held on 11 February. MPFA Managing Director Mr Cheng Yan-chee thanked the participating experts. He said, "As phase two eMPF onboarding is just around the corner, the size of assets under management of MPF schemes joining the Platform will be larger and involve more scheme members and employers, we can expect greater challenges. It is crucial to further enhance the operational fluency and user experience of the eMPF. The professional advice of the Group will help us improve the operation and services of the eMPF, thus enhancing users’ satisfaction with the eMPF."

The MPFA and the eMPF Company will regularly analyse and discuss the operations of the eMPF with the Group and the Group members will provide professional opinions and recommendations on the operation and services of the eMPF.
