New TV game show to broaden MPF knowledge
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) will launch a new TV game show called MPF Kaleidoscope, which will be broadcast in May. Through short dramas, quizzes and tips from financial experts, the game show seeks to educate the public on various MPF issues in an interesting and easy-to-understand manner.
MPF Kaleidoscope is a five-episode game show jointly produced by the MPFA and TVB, and hosted by Do Do Cheng. In each episode, four celebrities or artistes in two teams compete in games, and a financial expert comments on and analyses the answers given by the teams so that the public can have a clear and deep understanding of the MPF.
Each episode of MPF Kaleidoscope comprises three parts. The first is a game called "MPF Q&A" in which the two teams are shown three short dramas on different MPF topics and have to answer an MPF-related question tagged to each drama. The financial expert elaborates on the answers to give the teams and TV audience a better understanding of MPF knowledge.
In the second game "Making MPF fund choices", the two teams have to tailor-make an MPF portfolio for a well-known character in a popular TV drama, taking into account the character's age, occupation, income level and family status, and then explain why the portfolio suits the character. The financial expert then evaluates the proposed fund choices and chooses the winning team according to how well they have considered the relevant factors and how suitable their proposal is.
The third part features artistes sharing their personal experience in, and tips on, MPF investment.
MPF Kaleidoscope will be telecast on TVB-Jade from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm on five consecutive Wednesdays from 2 to 30 May 2012. The episodes can also be viewed on the TVB website (www.tvb.com) or via the myTV smart phone application. In addition, the audience can participate in an interactive MPF quiz game via the TVB Fun smart phone application. The interactive game will be available from the beginning of each episode at 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm the same evening.
The financial experts featured in the five episodes of MPF Kaleidoscope are Dr Eddie Lam, veteran investment consultant; Mr Simon Lee, Senior Instructor (Accounting/Finance) in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Mr Paul Pong, Chairman of The Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong; Dr Billy Mak, MBA Associate Programme Director at Hong Kong Baptist University; and Professor Raymond So, Dean of the School of Business of Hang Seng Management College.
The MPFA has been organising a wide variety of activities through different platforms and media to enhance public understanding of the MPF System and MPF investment so that they can make informed decisions in preparation for retirement.
