MPFA provides a list of low-fee funds

In order to further assist the public in identifying funds with a lower Fund Expense Ratio1 (FER), a list of MPF funds with a lower FER has been made available on the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) website starting from today (21 December). The list shows the fee information for the 5% of funds (excluding MPF Conservative Funds) with the lowest FER. The online list will be updated every month for scheme members’ reference.

The first list, which was uploaded today, shows 20 funds with a FER ranging from 0.44% to 1.29%.

A print version of the list will also be distributed to the public, together with the quarterly publication Summary of Fee Comparative Platform on MPF Funds. The new arrangement will start with the January 2013 issue of the Summary.

The MPFA’s online Fee Comparative Platform has also been enhanced to help scheme members find MPF funds with lower FERs at a glance. The FERs of MPF funds are shown from the lowest to the highest by default so as to facilitate comparison and selection of MPF funds.

In addition, a new feature has been added to the homepage of the MPFA website to provide quick access to past fund performance data2.

The MPFA reminds scheme members that when choosing MPF schemes and funds, in addition to fund fees, they should consider the products and services offered by the trustees, and personal factors such as personal investment objectives, years to retirement and risk tolerance level. Also, the past performance of funds cannot indicate their future performance, and therefore scheme members should not make any investment decisions solely based on historical fund returns.
