Workshops in creativity: Tertiary students to produce 3D animation on the MPF
Producing 3D animation is no longer an unachievable task for non-professionals. Even if you do not have any idea about 3D animation production, or all you can draw are matchstick figures, you can still produce your own 3D animations by joining the “3D Animation Training Programme on the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF)”.
The 3D Animation Training Programme on the MPF, jointly organized by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) and PC Market, is now calling for enrolment. It is a free programme and all full-time students in local tertiary institutions are invited to join.
Participating students will attend seven training workshops, which will commence in January 2014 and last for two months. In the workshops, professionals from the animation production industry will serve as mentors, providing guidance to the students in producing a 30- to 60-second 3D animation carrying MPF messages.
The mentoring team includes professionals in the creative industry Mathew Chow, Peter Ng and Anthony Wong. They will equip the students with technical skills of 3D animation production and share their experience in creative works.
The animation produced by the students will be judged by the organizers and the mentors. Scholarships will be awarded to the best-performing teams and the students producing the best animation will have a chance to work as summer interns at the MPFA.
The kick-off event of the Training Programme is a day camp to be held on 11 January 2014. Renowned disc jockey Sammy Leung and mentors from the creative industry will share their insights on creative works. In addition, financial expert Kenny Tang and an MPFA representative will give useful tips on money management and disseminate MPF messages to the participating students.
Details of the Training Programme can be found on the programme website (in Chinese only) or on the MPFA Facebook fanpage. Interested students are welcome to enrol on or before 16 December.
