Social Media Marketing Challenge on the MPF for tertiary students: Calls for enrolments

Online social media is overwhelmingly popular these days and has become an important platform for young people to acquire information. Many organizations also find it an indispensable channel for marketing.

Eyeing this prevailing trend, the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) has organized the Social Media Marketing Challenge on the MPF for tertiary students this academic year to encourage students to use social media creatively and effectively to disseminate MPF messages to members of the public.

Social Media Marketing Challenge on the MPF is now open for enrolment. Full-time students of local tertiary institutions can join the competition in groups of a maximum of four people. Participating teams are required to complete three tasks marketing MPF messages as follows:
  1. To plan and execute an on-campus activity which introduces the background of the MPF System and its key features. The teams are required to set up a new Facebook fanpage as a marketing platform.
  2. To create textual and pictorial posts on different social media, including the teams’ Facebook fanpage and Instagram, to market the MPFA’s publicity campaigns, get as many “Likes” as possible, and boost the hit rate of the posts.
  3. To produce a one- to three-minute marketing video carrying specific messages on MPF investment for online public voting. The participating teams should publicize their own videos on the Facebook fanpage and appeal to Facebook users to vote for their videos.
Before carrying out the tasks, the teams will be equipped with knowledge about social media marketing planning and MPF basics in a briefing session organized by the MPFA and hosted by a team of social media and marketing experts, and an MPFA representative.

The highest-scoring team will win the “Grand Award”. Members of the team will be awarded scholarships and have a chance to work as summer interns at the MPFA in 2015.

Details of the Social Media Marketing Challenge on the MPF can be found on the programme website (in Chinese only), the Youth Corner of the MPFA website, and the MPFA Facebook fanpage Rolling my Money (in Chinese only). Interested students are welcome to enrol on or before 15 December.
