Online game to match MPF funds with individual personalities
With more than 400 funds in the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System, scheme members may find it difficult to choose appropriate ones for their personality and situation.
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (12 January) launched an online game on Facebook. It helps identify the player’s personality and which members of the “JJ Five” band have a similar investment risk appetite. The game introduces the “JJ Five” band members, each representing a type of MPF fund, along with their respective features and risk levels. Scheme members can make reference to these features when they choose MPF funds. The “JJ Five” band members are Kam Ka Chun (equity fund), Kam Ka Kwan (mixed assets fund), Kam Ka Pong (bond fund), Kam Ka Ching (guaranteed fund), and Kam Ka Po (MPF Conservative Fund). Participants also have a chance to win a prize after completing the game.
Participants are also encouraged to watch an MPF investment education video on the MPFA YouTube channel MPFA TV, which explains the concept of retirement savings and the importance of early retirement planning.
Anyone can play the game on the MPFA Facebook fan page Rolling My Money (Chinese only), starting today till 1 February. Players may also win a prize for inviting their Facebook friends to play the game.
The MPFA attaches great importance to investment education. In addition to using traditional platforms such as newspapers and magazines for publicity and education, the MPFA reaches out to the public through popular online channels, including YouTube, Facebook and mobile phone applications, and disseminates information about the MPF System and the MPF investment in a light-hearted manner.
The MPFA hopes the game will help remind scheme members of the need to consider their personal factors as well as the features and risk levels of different MPF funds when choosing funds.
