MPFA’s Social Media Marketing Challenge on MPF wins Silver Award in the Spark Awards 2015

 
The Social Media Marketing Challenge on MPF, organized by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) in the 2014/15 academic year, has won the Silver Award under the Best Media Campaign – Social Media category in the Spark Awards 2015. The Awards recognize the most creative and effective social media campaigns.
 
With growing popularity of online social media, the MPFA has been devoting considerable resources to launching interactive online education and publicity activities in recent years, providing MPF information to members of the public, especially the young generation.
 
In the past academic year, the MPFA organized the Social Media Marketing Challenge on MPF to encourage tertiary students to use social media to disseminate MPF messages to the public. Participants in the competition created 15 Facebook fan pages, which recorded a post reach of more than 100,000 and engaged over 15,000 people (including likes, shares and comments). The fan pages have also attracted almost 5,000 fans.
 
MPFA Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Cheng Yan-chee said, “The MPFA places a high value on public education. As young people nowadays get a lot of their information online, the MPFA makes wide use of social media to deliver MPF messages to them. We are very pleased to have won this award, which recognized our efforts to use social media for publicity and education. The MPFA will continue to work hard to reach scheme members from different age groups and sectors through various channels and platforms.”
 
Apart from launching the award-winning campaign, the MPFA has a Facebook fan page called Rolling My Money and a mobile phone application called MVP@Workplace, which offer job-searching skills and MPF tips to young job seekers, including tertiary students working part-time, graduates who have just started working full-time, and other newcomers to the workforce. In addition, the MPFA has produced short videos on different MPF themes and uploaded them on YouTube to spread information about the MPF System and relevant investment management skills.
 
The annual Spark Awards recognize the most creative and effective marketing strategies and activities in Hong Kong, including publicity campaigns that make good use of new media. The entries are evaluated on their content, client engagement, use of new media and programming initiatives.

MPFA Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Cheng Yan-chee said the award recognized the Authority's efforts to use social media for publicy and education.
