MPFA Chairman welcomes appointments

Chairman of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA), Dr David Wong, today (24 June) welcomed the Chief Executive’s re-appointment of Mrs Diana Chan Tong Chee-ching as Managing Director of the MPFA for a term of two years starting 1 July 2016.

Dr Wong also congratulated Mr Horace Wong Yuk-lun on his re-appointment as a Non-Executive Director of the MPFA for a two-year term commencing 1 October 2016.

Congratulating Mrs Chan, Dr Wong said, “Under Mrs Chan’s leadership over the past years, the MPFA has implemented a number of important reforms, which have helped the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System continue to evolve and play an important role in the retirement protection of the Hong Kong working population. Looking ahead, the MPFA will have to meet even more challenges, such as preparing for the introduction of the Default Investment Strategy and exploring possible measures to standardize, streamline and automate the administration of MPF schemes. I am confident that under Mrs Chan’s stewardship the MPFA will continue to smoothly implement the planned enhancement measures for the MPF System.”

Mrs Chan said, “I am glad to have been given the chance to continue to serve the MPFA. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Dr David Wong, the other Directors of the Management Board and MPFA staff to build a retirement savings system that is valued by Hong Kong people.”

Mrs Chan joined the MPFA in 2000. She was Executive Director (Corporate Services) and Chief Operating Officer (Corporate Affairs) before becoming Managing Director in July 2004.

Dr Wong also thanked Mr Wong for his contribution to the Authority over the past four years. Mr Wong was first appointed as an MPFA Non-Executive Director in 2012.
