MPFA launches its first online multimedia parenting educational materials on money management – MPF Time Machine Travel
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) is tasked with helping the public understand the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System and disseminating MPF messages to the public, including employers, present and future scheme members. One of the MPFA’s goals is to help Hong Kong’s young people develop proper attitudes towards money management as early as possible. This is in line with the policy advocated by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
In view of the growing popularity of online learning platforms, the MPFA produced for the current academic year its first animated story MPF Time Machine Travel, together with a multimedia teaching manual, which will be publicized via an online platform. The materials educate kindergarten students about money management and help them develop a proper attitude towards it. Apart from in-class teaching, children can learn about the related money management concepts at home through parenting activities using the online platform.
The animated story MPF Time Machine Travel is now available on the EVI Platform (www.evi.com.hk).
To encourage parents who are also MPF scheme members to better manage their MPF investments and to equip them with skills in coaching their children on proper attitudes towards money management in daily life, the MPFA has set up a “Parents Section” on the online platform. This section provides parents with information on the MPF System and MPF investment, and experts share tips with parents on how to teach their children about money management.
Children can learn three basic concepts of money management – saving, spending and donating – from the interesting adventures of a brother and sister who come from the future, presented in the animated story MPF Time Machine Travel. Teachers and parents are also welcome to log in to watch the story.
