MPFA Chairman writes blog to enhance public understanding of the MPF
Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) Chairman Dr David Wong today (1 March) launched a blog on the MPFA website to share the latest developments of the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System and the work of the MPFA.
In his first article, Dr Wong welcomed the Government’s proposal of providing tax concessions for MPF voluntary contributions as announced in yesterday’s Budget Speech. He believed that it would help strengthen scheme members’ retirement protection.
He stressed that the MPF is designed to provide basic retirement protection for scheme members. If scheme members want to enjoy a comfortable retirement life, they have to pay close attention to their MPF investment and boost their retirement savings through other means such as making MPF voluntary contributions.
Dr Wong said, “The MPF System covers millions of workers and is a vital part of retirement protection in Hong Kong. We would like to use the blog to share our thoughts on various issues related to the MPF and to enhance public understanding of the System.”
