MPFA blog - MPF System covers different types of employees

Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) Chairman Dr David Wong published his latest blog post on the MPFA website today (10 February). He said the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System covers different types of employees, including casual workers in the construction and catering industries, who tend to change jobs frequently. He introduced the features and advantages of the MPF Industry Schemes set up by the MPFA aiming to facilitate MPF arrangements by workers and employers.

He called on construction and catering workers to open casual employee accounts under the MPF Industry Schemes and to get a “casual employee card” to help them and their employers manage their MPF more easily. He said registration for “casual employee cards” between 2009 and 2018 had almost doubled from 310,000 to over 600,000 causal workers, showing the results of the Authority’s ongoing promotional efforts.

Dr Wong also reminded all scheme members, whether they are full-time, part-time or casual employees, or self-employed, to review and consolidate their MPF accounts at Chinese New Year to plan for retirement.
