MPFA reminds MPF scheme members to be vigilant with their MPF account information and passwords

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) has received enquiries recently about mobile apps in the market that allow Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme members to check information in individual MPF personal accounts, such as account balance and other personal financial information. Those mobile apps would require customers to provide important personal information, such as their MPF account numbers and passwords.

An MPFA spokesperson stressed that neither the MPFA nor MPF trustees have authorized or cooperated with those service providers in any form to collect data or check information of scheme members’ MPF accounts. The MPFA urges scheme members to be cautious about safeguarding their personal information and to make sure they understand clearly how the service providers collect their personal information, as well as the terms and conditions of the services, when using those mobile apps.

The MPFA encourages scheme members to make use of the electronic services provided by their trustees to manage their MPF. If scheme members have any queries about their MPF accounts, they should contact their trustee(s) directly.
