eMPF Platform, a new era of MPF management

The eMPF Platform (the Platform), which aims to digitalize the administrative tasks of the MPF, is the most significant reform of the MPF System since its inception. Over 4 million MPF scheme members will enjoy a brand-new experience in handling MPF matters upon the launch of the Platform. MPF management will become much easier and convenient.

Registration in 3 simple steps

To register for an eMPF Platform account, scheme members will need to complete only 3 simple steps: provide identity authentication, key in personal information, and set up an account password. Once registered, new members will select their preferred investment portfolio through the Platform, saving them the hassle of filling in and submitting registration forms to MPF trustees. Furthermore, scheme members will be provided a lifelong account number which could facilitate the management of their MPF on the Platform and checking account information, including MPF scheme names, account balance, overall investment returns, and returns of individual funds in their investment portfolio.

Manage investment portfolio with ease

On the Platform, transferring funds will be more convenient, as scheme members can simply select the type of contributions they wish to adjust, including mandatory contributions and voluntary contributions they made to the scheme, and input the ratio of funds they wish to transfer in or out. The Platform also provides hyperlinks to help scheme members understand the risk level, fees and performance of different MPF funds.

Quicker account consolidation

Currently, MPF scheme members who wish to consolidate their personal accounts have to complete a form and submit it to the MPF trustee. Scheme members often need to check with the trustees for missing information, such as account number in order to complete the procedures. Scheme members will be able to obtain details of all personal accounts through the Platform. Consolidation of personal accounts will be much faster and easier through the Platform, and the processing time will be reduced to less than two weeks, nearly two-thirds faster than now.

The MPFA, the eMPF Platform Company and the contractor are working at full steam on the development of the Platform. The target is to complete the development by end-2022 at the earliest, followed by system testing in early next year to enable orderly migration of account information to the Platform by mid-2023 onboarding. The Platform is expected to be fully functional in 2025.
