MPFA Chairman frankly exchanges with frontline practitioners of the electrical and mechanical engineering industry (11 September 2021)
With a view to listening to views of frontline employees, MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Lau met with the Union of Hong Kong Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Assistants (the Union), an affiliate of the Federation of Hong Kong and Kowloon Labour Unions on 11 September to discuss issues concerning MPF and retirement protection.
Mrs Lau noted that many of the Union members were either casual workers in the construction industry under the MPF Industry Schemes (IS) or self-employed persons (SEP) who earn their income from direct provision of services.
Mrs Lau highlighted the importance of early retirement planning and the benefits of disciplined saving habit and long-term investment embodied in the MPF System. Mrs Lau took the opportunity to update the participants on the development of the eMPF Platform which will bring on huge benefits to scheme members in retirement planning and management of MPF once the Platform is fully operational.
