Sincere exchanges between MPFA Chairman and the Employers’ Federation of Hong Kong on MPF related matters (8 October 2021)
MPFA Chairman Mrs. Ayesha Lau and management team met with the Employers’ Federation of Hong Kong (EFHK) on 8 Oct and had a candid dialogue on MPF topics of common concern.
Mrs. Lau said that both employers and employees were required to make contributions so that the workforce could accumulate savings to cover their basic retirement needs. People who otherwise would have saved little or nothing, now have a sum put aside to support their retirement life. It reduced the risk of over-reliance on the other government-financed pillars in our multi-pillar retirement protection framework. Hence, employers were essential stakeholders of the MPF System.
She added that the MPFA was developing at full steam the eMPF Platform, the largest reform initiative ever of the MPF System, which would greatly simplify and automate employers' handling of MPF scheme administration procedures with significantly higher efficiency and accuracy. Therefore, it would be a win-win for employers and employees alike when the Platform is fully launched.
