MPFA shares the latest regulatory initiative to facilitate MPF investment in China bonds with the industry (21 Jul 2022)
MPFA Director (Product Regulation) Mr Joseph Lee attended an industry roundtable organized by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) with the theme “China Bond ETFs: Opportunities in the Latest MPF Regulation Change” on 21 Jul, sharing his views on recent regulatory development in MPF products and investments in China bonds as well as the related opportunities with asset management and investment professionals.
According to the legislative amendment in June 2022, the Central People’s Government, the People’s Bank of China and the three Mainland policy banks will be added to the “exempt authority” list. Mr Lee expressed that the amendment has responded to the growing demand for investment in Mainland bonds and enhanced diversity of investment choice for scheme members. The amendment has also facilitated MPF investment in Mainland bonds which helps promote mutual access between the Mainland’s and Hong Kong’s financial markets.
