MPFA attended OECD-ADBI-OJK Roundtable on Insurance and Retirement Savings in Asia 2024 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia (9-10 July 2024)
MPFA Executive Director (Policy) Eric Cheng attended the OECD-ADBI-OJK Roundtable on Insurance and Retirement Savings in Asia 2024 from 9 to 10 July 2024 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
MPFA Executive Director (Policy) Eric Cheng spoke at the session on “Leveraging technology to improve the delivery of insurance and pensions” at the Roundtable
At the roundtable, Mr Cheng spoke on the technical challenges on data analysis generally faced by private pension regulators at present, and the potential benefits to be brought by the eMPF Platform in enabling more sophisticated analyses using aggregate data to support better policy development in relation to the MPF System for delivering better retirement outcome for scheme members. During the panel discussion, Mr Cheng also shared the importance of data security and governance regarding personal data privacy in the design and operation of central digital platform.

The eMPF Platform is a pioneer in establishing central digital platforms for private pension systems, and it has particular appeal to pension regulators around the world. At the margin of the roundtable, Mr Cheng had exchanges with regulators in the region on the experience related to the development of the eMPF Platform.
