MPFA visits Beijing for exchange with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (24 July 2024)

 

MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau, and Managing Director Mr Cheng Yan-chee joined the delegation led by Financial Secretary Mr Paul Chan to meet with the Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Ms Wang Xiaoping in Beijing on 24 July and had in-depth exchange on the development of the pension insurance system in the Mainland and the MPF System in Hong Kong as well as other relevant issues.  Mrs Lau said that the privately-managed personal pension scheme in the Mainland and MPF can draw reference from each other.  MPFA was honoured to have participated in the exchange with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MoHRSS) and other relevant agencies in the Mainland and share experience on the eMPF Platform.

On the following day (25 July), Mr Cheng led an MPFA delegation to the MoHRSS, participating in a technical exchange session with the MoHRSS. At the session, Mr Cheng introduced the experience on major reforms of the MPF System such as the Default Investment Strategy and the eMPF Platform, and regulation of MPF funds, as well as exchanged views on technical topics of common interest. The MPFA delegation also visited relevant institutions in Beijing, gaining a better understanding of the latest developments of policies related to pension insurance in the Mainland.
