MPFA Chairman in dialogue with future financial leaders (13 August 2024)
MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau, together with MPFA Executive Director (Policy) Mr Eric Cheng and Chief Executive Officer of the eMPF Platform Company Mr Eric Lui, met with participants of the Financial Leaders Programme of the Academy of Finance on 13 Aug. They shared the features of the MPF System, various initiatives for further refining the MPF System and the benefits brought about by the eMPF Platform for stakeholders.
Mrs Lau highlighted that the MPF is designed as a retirement protection system “of the people and for the people”. By leveraging on Hong Kong as an international financial centre with diverse products, high-quality financial services providers, and a robust regulatory framework, MPF can provide basic retirement protection for the working population.
Mrs Lau added that the eMPF Platform is to serve the Hong Kong community on a non-profit making model. By addressing the pain points in MPF management, the eMPF Platform aims to enhance operational efficiency, reduce administration costs, and provide user-centric experience for all users. The eMPF Platform will also drive market competition and pave way for further reforms.
During the event, participants shared views with MPFA representatives regarding the future development of the MPF System and various aspects of MPFA's work. They also had the opportunity to experience the functionalities of the eMPF Platform first hand.
