eMPF Platform as the most important reform initiative of MPF System to enhance efficiency and adequacy (12 September 2024)
MPFA Executive Director (Policy) Eric Cheng attended an Asia Pacific Investment Forum on 12 Sep sharing with the investment industry around the world on the developments of the MPF System in Hong Kong, and highlighting particularly the benefits of the eMPF Platform as the most important reform initiative of the System since its inception.
Eric Cheng elaborated that as a centralized digital platform handling all MPF administration procedures, the eMPF Platform substantially reduce administration costs and further drive fee reductions, thus contributing to the enhancement of the efficiency and adequacy of the MPF System. He also mentioned that MPFA has been working on the review and refinement of the regulatory framework for MPF permissible asset classes on an ongoing basis. MPFA encouraged investment managers to make good use of existing permissible asset classes and welcomed proposals from the industry for further refinement of the framework.
He also encouraged the industry to leverage on the advantage of the eMPF Platform and focus on improving investment performance for enhancing the retirement protection of scheme members.
