MPFA Chairman Ayesha Macpherson Lau delivered an opening special address at the “2024 APIC World Pension, Social Security & Sovereign Wealth Funds Summit” on 13 Nov, sharing the benefits and latest developments of the eMPF Platform (the eMPF) with 200 senior government officials, asset owners and institutional investors from across the world.

Mrs Lau said that the eMPF is the most significant reform of the MPF System since its inception. It will address the pain points encountered by different users in managing MPF in the past. It will not only enhance the efficiency of the administration of MPF and allow users to manage MPF across different schemes anytime and anywhere on one platform, but will also reduce administration fee, bringing benefits to all stakeholders.

Mrs Lau emphasized that the eMPF, as a centralized, one-stop digital platform, is a pioneer among private pension systems worldwide. According to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, most digital platforms of private pension systems do not have account management and transactions functions but the eMPF connects all MPF trustees and schemes, enabling scheme members to view their MPF portfolio, manage their accounts and perform transactions across different schemes on one platform. The eMPF stands out as the centralized digital platform with the most comprehensive administrative functions among private pensions system globally.
