MPFA attended IOPS annual meetings and Global Forum on Private Pensions in Indonesia (18-20 November 2024)
MPFA Managing Director Cheng Yan-chee participated in annual meetings of the International Organisation of Pension Supervisors (IOPS) and the Global Forum on Private Pensions jointly organized by IOPS, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and the Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) in Indonesia from 18 to 20 November 2024.
At the IOPS Technical Committee meeting, Mr Cheng presented the latest development of Default Investment Strategy (DIS) to meeting participants. The robust design of the DIS was recognized as a useful reference for pension systems considering to set up their default investment arrangements. Separately, Mr Cheng moderated and spoke at one of the discussion panels in the Global Forum on Private Pensions, sharing the forward-looking and the inclusive nature of the MPF System in terms of coverage, and how the eMPF Platform could facilitate workers with different employment characteristics to manage their MPF.
Mr Cheng participated in the discussions with pension regulator representatives and experts worldwide on topical pension-related issues, such as permissible investments in pension funds and the role of voluntary contributions in filling retirement savings gap. He also conducted an in-depth briefing on developing the eMPF Platform for representatives from the OJK in a bilateral technical exchange meeting.
