MPFA Chairman Ayesha Macpherson Lau, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Wallace Lau and MPFA representatives attended a seminar organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (FTU) at Shau Kei Wan last Sunday (23 Mar). Over 100 participants from labour unions, FTU members and workers in the neighbourhood joined the seminar. During the event, Mrs Lau shared the main benefits of the Default Investment Strategy, the latest developments and benefits of the eMPF and listened to the participants’ views on the MPF and retirement protection. The eMPF outreach team also introduced the eMPF and provide on-site registration assistance to the participating workers.
Mrs Lau emphasized that 2025 is a pivotal year for the MPF, marking its 25th anniversary of operation and the implementation of several key reforms. These include the onboarding of all MPF trustees to the eMPF by the end of this year, the abolition of MPF offsetting arrangement effective from 1 May, and mapping out the implementation details and conducting the public consultations for “full portability” of MPF benefits. MPFA will continue to actively engage with labour unions and organizations to promote the MPF and listen to the voices from scheme members, aiming to further enhance the MPF System.
FTU President and LegCo Member Hon Stanley Ng Chau-pei, LegCo Member Hon Kwok Wai-keung and other FTU representatives also attended the event. Additionally, the Labour Department representative explained the arrangements for the abolition of MPF offsetting to the participants.
