MPFA Chairman meets with FLU (4 May 2021)
MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Lau met with the leadership of the Federation of Hong Kong and Kowloon Labour Unions (FLU), including Chairman Lam Chun-sing and around 30 members of FLU’s Standing Committee and industry representatives yesterday (4 May), to hear the views of frontline employees and union representatives with a view to further enhancing the MPF System for the benefits of grassroots scheme members.
Mrs Lau shared with the union representatives her vision as MPFA Chairman by highlighting that the original intent of the MPF System was to provide basic retirement protection for the working population in the long run. The MPF System must therefore be upheld persistently to accumulate and grow MPF. She called for closer collaboration between FLU and MPFA to enhance the understanding of the working population on the MPF System.
Mrs Lau added that the top priority of MPFA currently was to ensure the smooth and timely implementation of the eMPF Platform project. As the building of the eMPF Platform is the largest and most complicated financial infrastructure project ever in Hong Kong, MPFA is determined to complete the project as the successful and timely launch of the eMPF Platform will bring about enormous benefits to all stakeholders and users, particularly scheme members in terms of fee reduction and enhanced user experience.
