Legislation and Regulations
MPFA regulates the operations of MPF schemes in accordance with the provisions under MPF legislation and relevant guidelines and codes. MPFA also issues circulars, standards and best practice notes to give guidance to the industry.
Trustees must comply with:
- the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance
- the MPF Schemes (General) Regulation
- Guidelines and Codes issued by MPFA
- Circulars issued by MPFA
MPFA seeks to promote good corporate governance, proper risk management and a strong compliance culture among MPF approved trustees. MPFA issued a set of Compliance Standards in July 2005 and Governance Principles for MPF Trustees in November 2018 to assist trustees in developing a structured framework for monitoring their compliance with statutory duties and responsibilities.
