MPFA blog - Your support is the key to the smooth transition to the eMPF
MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau published her blog post today (28 July), highlighting that the support of users and the dedicated services provided by the project team have contributed to the smooth operation of eMPF Platform (the eMPF) in the first month since its commencement.
Since the eMPF opened for registration on 12 June, over 20,000 users registered for the eMPF, and the eMPF mobile application recorded over 31,000 downloads, as at 25 July. As more MPF schemes gradually join the eMPF, the number of registrations and downloads are expected to continue to increase.
Mrs Lau said that it is understandable that scheme members and employers might need time and assistance in order to familiarize themselves with the eMPF as well as gradually building up the habit of handling MPF administrative work via this centralized digital platform. According to the preliminary figures collected since the commencement of operation of the eMPF, enrolling employees in MPF schemes, submitting contribution information by employers and switching funds and withdrawing MPF by employees through digital means accounted for about 60% of the total number of such transactions. Comparing with less than 35% transactions conducted digitally in the past, the digital uptake rate in the first month of the eMPF operation has almost doubled and is believed to continue to increase going forward. This is an encouraging start indeed.
She also said that the majority of inquiries handled were about eMPF registration and usage. The eMPF Platform Company has spared no effort in providing patient and meticulous assistance to every user in need. She encouraged employers to make use of the outreach service teams which will provide onsite assistance to employers on Platform registration and explanation on various features of the eMPF. She also invited users to utilize the eMPF customer service hotline to get detailed answers to their questions. She particularly appreciated suggestions made by some scheme members and employers on areas in which the eMPF could improve. The eMPF Platform Company has followed up on every suggestion and will continue to gather feedback on the operation and support services of the eMPF to make continuous improvements to enhance the experience of scheme members and employers using the eMPF.
Mrs Lau pointed out that the positive feedback received from scheme members and employers who have actively cooperated and adapted to the changes is undoubtedly a good start for the operation of the eMPF. She encouraged users who are about to join the eMPF to make use of the comprehensive support services if they have any questions on the operation and arrangement of the eMPF, in particular the outreach services tailored for employers.
