Employers are encouraged to use digital tools to handle MPF matters
The MPF System is moving toward the new era of digitalization, and the MPFA has always encouraged both employers and employees to make good use of digital means to handle MPF matters. A numbers of MPF trustees have already provided different digital tools and services for employers to handle MPF administration, such as making MPF contributions for employees conveniently, anytime, anywhere. In fact, there are multiple benefits for employers to handle MPF matters digitally.
Firstly, employers can use the electronic tools provided by trustees to accurately calculate their employees’ MPF contributions to avoid surcharges arising from delay in making contributions due to inaccurate manual calculations or incorrect information provided on the remittance statement.
Secondly, by using autopay or other electronic payment channels provided by the trustees to make MPF contributions, employers can avoid delay in postal delivery or dispute about the payment date.
Thirdly, employers can check past remittance statements and electronic payment records for easier and more systemic management of records. In the electronic system provided by some trustees, employees contribution records can be saved as archives, which can save the trouble from filling out all the information from scratch each time and thus reducing the chance of human error and saving time.
In the long run, paperless MPF administration is not only environmentally friendly, but also helps drive the reduction of administrative fees of MPF schemes.
The MPFA is developing the eMPF Platform at full steam. This user-oriented digital platform is a public utility, which will provide one-stop service for handling MPF matters, including MPF scheme enrolment, making contributions, and submission of documents and information. It will also help enhance operational efficiency while reducing the administration costs of businesses. In anticipation of the eMPF Platform era, employers should embark on the journey of digital transformation as soon as possible and adapt to the digitalization of the MPF.
